London College of Communication

Hey guys!

I was absolutely not prepared for the heat that hit London today! It was around 36 degrees at its worst, and it is still currently around 30. I'm not used to this, as it hasn't been this hot here in a while.

Today started off quite well, I actually woke up on time for uni. As I mentioned in my last post, I am currently attending a summer school, which is at the UAL London College of Communication, and today was my third day. I have been given a place at the photography course, which is completely different to what I have imagined. We have not gone out to take photos, or used the photography studios, instead we have been learning about 'how to read a photograph'. What does that mean? No clue, but I am still enjoying the course. However, we have been asked to take or bring in photographs, which we will turn into 'photography books', that can be a concertina book or one of your own design. No idea what I'm making but I'm planning to base it on a 'journey through life', where I will place my baby photos, and slowly begin putting in more recent pictures, developing sort of a timeline. For the future, I hope I will get an opportunity to photograph an old couple or a family that will represent what I am aiming for in the following few years.

The past couple of days have been really hot, which isn't easy to handle on packed tubes, especially when it takes me 55minutes on the tube to get to Elephant & Castle, everyday there and back. It's tiring. To add to that, I am starting another summer school at London College of Fashion on Monday next week, which is a 2h 30min journey there and back to Hackney. I am not exactly sure how I will survive in this heat, but I'm looking forward to my holidays as soon as this course finishes!

Other than explaining my uni experience so far, I wanted to show you the outfit I had prepared for the hot weather. Its quite simple, but it was a big step for me as I wasn't so comfortable 'exposing' my legs for a longer while. Therefore I thought it would be a good idea to try something new, so I wore a black playsuit that I purchased a while back for the summer. Here are some of the photos my friend Dominika had taken today! I thought I'd make the photos slightly different this time so I edited them a little, and added photos from the university itself.

Playsuit - H&M
Shoes - Vans (old school vintage skate)
